The Subsidy System as a Prerequisite for the Development of Micro-Photovoltaic Installations in Households in Poland

Abstract
The aim of the study was to assess the profitability of investing in a micro photovoltaic installation in a household that benefited from funding under the government’s “My Electricity” programme. Methods for assessing the profitability of investment projects were used. The net present value (NPV) and the payback period (DPP) were calculated. The payback period is longer than that declared in the agreement between the investor and the company responsible for the installation and calculation of the profitability of the photovoltaic panels. The subsidy received under the government’s “My Electricity” programme significantly shortened the payback period. The payback period declared in the agreement between the investor and the company involved in the installation and calculation of the profitability of photovoltaic panels is underestimated. Companies involved in the installation and calculation of the profitability of photovoltaic panels reduce the payback period for investors’ expenditure on the installation of photovoltaic panels. Government support programmes may contribute to an increase in interest in investments in renewable energy sources (RES) among households.
