Abstract

Suburban municipalities are heavily influenced by the nearby agglomeration. This is particularly evident in their spatial policy. This analysis aimed to identify the influence of the distance from the city on the surface of areas designated in the local spatial development plans for investment. The study focused on the calculation of the surface of existing development areas and building reserve areas. For this purpose geospatial data and GIS tools were used. Interpretation of the results led to the conclusion that the proximity of the city significantly affect the size of investment areas. The farther from the urban center, the lower demand for building land. Therefore, smaller areas are designated in local plans for development.
