Abstract

Nicolaus Copernicus University establishment after World War II has impacted on direction of city development to some extent, including shaping public transport system. Location of university campus in western part of the Toruń has imposed matching public transport systems to service commuters from different parts of the city – researchers as well as students. The aim of research is to indicate direction of public transport development in Toruń in the context of studentification. Research is based on concept paper analysis in the field of transport network development in Toruń in the period after World War II until 2016 and on the results of survey concerning spatial behaviour of Nicolaus Copernicus University students. Research shows that presence of Nicolaus Copernicus University impacts on spatial development of the city after World War II in the context of the course of the most important public transport lines.
