Abstract

Bicycle systems, due to numerous of their advantages (easy connection with other modes of transportation, reduction of environmental pollution, lower costs and greater availability regardless of belonging to a particular social group), are becoming more popular in many European cities. In this study the efficiency of the Wroclaw City Bike (WRM) over the years 2011–2015 was evaluated. The assessment was made by analising statistics on the number of hires, as well as through the analysis of spatial availability. Both, the area approach (part of the city which is supported by WRM) and the ease of movement in different directions (by defining the number of stations where user can leave hired bike) were taken into account.
