Abstract

This article deals with the phenomenon of cultural performances in honor of great heroes,
which created and maintained a patriotic tradition in Poland at the turn of the century. These performances
are presented as a result of a political project that was conceived as a didactic and persuasive
action. Their goal was to try and create a new society, a new community united by the idea of a free
and strong Poland.
