Submissions

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Authors are required to provide their ORCID number.

As of 2020, the journal is published only in English. 

SUBMITTING YOUR PAPER

  1. The publication is free of charge.
  2. Papers should be uploaded to the system by clicking on "Make a Submission".
  3. All manuscripts undergo a preliminary review by the Chairman of the Editorial Board to ensure that they are consistent with the journal's profile and meet the journal's editorial standards. The reviewers are suggested by the Chairman of the Editorial Board. All papers are reviewed by two reviewers in a double-blind review process.
  4. The review is developed in writing and is posted on the journal’s website.
  5. If the reviewers suggest modifications to the paper, the Editor forwards their remarks to the author for approval and consideration.
  6. If a manuscript receives two negative reviews, the relevant information is forwarded to the author and the submission is rejected.
  7. If a manuscript receives two different reviews, the final decision is made by the Chairman of the Editorial Board who may or may not consult the Members of the Editorial Board.
  8. When submitting a manuscript, the author should attach a copyright transfer statement declaring that all copyrights to the work are transferred to the Publishing House of the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn and that the manuscript has not been published elsewhere in the same form – DOWNLOAD TEMPLATE.
  9. The authors are required to complete and attach this document regarding the compliance of the submitted article with the aim and scope of the journal, technical guidelines and required approvals - DOWNLOAND TEMPLATE.
  10. The authors are required to obtain consent for the publication of any previously copyrighted data, drawings or photographic images.

EDITORIAL REQUIREMENTS - DOWNLOAD TEMPLATE

General and technical requirements for the submissions

  1. Document style– the text should be written in Times New Roman font, 12 point, with 1.5 line spacing. Italics and bold may be used to highlight the text, but letters, words or sentences may not be underlined.
  2. Table and figure size may not exceed A4.Table headers should be in Times New Roman font, 9 point, and table content in Times New Roman font, 8 point, with single line spacing. Vertical lines should be avoided whenever possible. Tables should be submitted in .doc or .rtf format.
  3. References should follow the APA 7 style.

The manuscript should have the following layout.

1. The manuscript should be anonymous

  1. The title of the manuscript should be in English.
  2. Abstract – between 600 and 1000 characters.
  3. Keywords – up to 6 keywords that are useful for indexation and search terms should be quoted. We recommend that the words used in the title are not repeated as keywords.
  4. The main body of the text should include: an introduction describing the research objective and hypothesis, materials and methods, results, discussion, conclusions (or summary) and references. We recommend that the authors quote literature that is relevant to the subject, including papers published in the previous issues of Acta Scientiarum Polonorum.

2. Title page - DOWNLOAD TEMPLATE

  1. English title of the manuscript;
  2. First and last name(s) of the author(s);
  3. ORCID number(s) of the Author(s);
  4. Name(s) and address(es) of author affiliations;
  5. Author(s)' e-mail address(es);
  6. Abstract – between 600 and 1000 characters;
  7. Keywords – up to 6 keywords that are useful for indexation and search terms should be quoted. We recommend that the words used in the title are not repeated as keywords.

A manuscript is submitted to the journal in a digital file. After receiving the review, the author forwards a revised copy of the manuscript to the Editor, including (if applicable) any comments explaining why not all of the reviewer's suggestions were taken into consideration. The main part of the manuscript (title, abstract, summary, main body of the text with tables and figures and references) should be submitted in a single file. Tables, figures, and other appendices should also be submitted in separate files. All illustrations (drawings, diagrams, graphs) should be developed in software compatible with the Windows environment (such as Excel, Corel Draw, Photoshop, etc.) and submitted in separate digital files (source files).

The Editor reserves the right to abridge, correct, modify, and elaborate on the content of the manuscript, subject to the author’s approval.

Authors are required to include the following files with their submission:
1. Anonymized article file (download template),
2. Title page (download template),
3. Copyright transfer statement(download template),
4. File with information on approvals obtained (download template),
5. Tables, figures, and other appendices - if they appear in the article. 

The average time from article submission to publication is approximately 5 months.
