Abstract

The autobiographical works and poetry of Maria Zientara-Malewska provide interesting insights into the social and political activism of Polish women (teachers, kindergarten teachers) in East Prussia. The aim of this article was to depict the life and work of female activists of the Polish independence movement in the prose and poems of Maria Zientara-Malewska, including Joanna Pieniężna, Ludwika Rikowska, Helena Sierakowska, Marta Sendrowska (Hanowska), Otylia Teszner (Grotowa), Maria Gąszczakówna, Emilia Hanowska (Maczugowa) and Maria Kensbok.
