Abstract

The article examines the transformation of

Kant’s theory of the sublime in Deleuze’s

thought. Kant subordinates the aesthetic

shock to the moral vocation of reason, whereas

Deleuze sees in it a crisis and a creative dis

harmony of faculties, revealing an immanent

outside. The analysis of the figures of the Mon

strous, the regression of imagination, and the

‘discordant accord’ discloses a rhythm, showing

the sublime as a genetic model of thinking.
