The article explores the issue of inclusivity in
urban space design from a gender perspective,
emphasizing that the way cities are planned
and used largely reflects existing social power
relations. The aim of the study is to demon
strate how incorporating women’s experiences
into the design process influences equality,
safety, and the overall comfort of using urban
spaces. The analysis is based on a review of literature, case studies, and the interpretation of
implemented solutions in cities such as Barce
lona, Vienna, and Umeå. The study identifies
key barriers rooted in patriarchal urban planning models, including inadequate lighting,
limited access to public toilets, and safety risks
in public transport. The paper argues that in
clusive design, grounded in the gender perspec
tive, is essential for creating cities that are safe,
accessible, and welcoming for all.
