In the article I compare two opposed conceptions of the space: absolute one according to which the space is independent of material objects and her geometrical attributes aren’t the image of the physical characteristics to relational theory according to which the matter is primary regarding the space and the structure of continuum is subordinated to the structure of gravitational masses. The absolute space would have the characteristics of Euclidean space, the relational space would be nonEuclidean one. Against a background of this opposition the standpoint of Witkiewicz appears as a programme of synthesis of Euclidean with non-Euclidean space and of relativistic with Newtonian cosmology
