On the Dwelling in Culture – Axiological and Biological Factors

Włodzimierz Kaczocha

Abstract

The author of the text points to the fact that Martin Heidegger’s view on ‘dwelling’ (not occupying) is defined by means of ‘a simple quadrangle – Earth, Heaven, Divine Creatures and the Mortal’. According to the authors ideas such quandrangle determines the presence of mankind in culture, both from the axiological and biological angle. Furthermore, it determines the place of man within the sphere of existence. Oligopolistic culture has rejected the values of the quadrangle or they have become dependent on consumption. The dwelling has disappeared and man has become indifferent to existence. The author of the text advocates the need to restore the existence of the values of the quadrangle, with the help of which people will return to the culture of values and being.
