Abstract

“An engaged dad” – a contemporary model of fatherhood in the light of selected parenting blogs Changes in the functioning of the Polish family have resulted in the emergence of a new fatherhood model. Certain parenting blogs appear to serve as testimony to these socio-cultural changes. The content of selected Polish blogs written by men has become the basis for a description and analysis of the model known as “an engaged dad”. This type of father cares about the quality of partnership relations with his wife and children, understands their individual needs and, perhaps most importantly, seems to be affectionate and full of empathy. Not only the happiness of the whole family has been acknowledged, but also satisfaction with professional life and the fulfillment of individual ambitions, not to mention the attractive appearance that leaves nothing to be desired. In connection with what has been stated, the question then arises: How do increasingly involved dads influence the condition of the contemporary family: crisis, fall, or perhaps… restoration?
