Abstract

The aim of the paper is to analyze the the-oretical foundations of state socialism and practical consequences of employment of the prole-tariat dictatorship concept in underdeveloped countries.

The formulated by Karl Marks and Friedrich Engels concept of the dictatorship of the proletariat was subject to interpretative manipulations by Włodzimierz Lenin and Józef Stalin. The paper shows differences and connections between their views concerning the dictatorship of the proletariat. The version of the proletariat dictatorship represented by Stalin remains in a deep opposition to the concept formulated by the followers of classical marksizm. This version, having its sources in Lenin’s views had a decisive influence on practical state socialism. Numerous contemporary move ments and associations that came into being after the collapse of state socialism, refer to some its aspects.
