Abstract

The article deals with problems derived from the socio-political philosophy of Edward Abramowski from the perspective o f various anarchist thinkers. Although the author o f The Issues o f Socialism is widely recognised as a precursor o f Polish anarchism, his text also expressed views about contradictions in anarchist thought. The purpose o f the article is not so much to make a final decision as to whether Abramowski was an anarchist, but rather to show the full complexity o f his philosophy and to emphasize the role o f commentators who often treated Abramowski’s legacy instrumentally in order to create the myth o f the Polish “destroyer”. The work included, amongst others, the problem of internal cohesion o f Abramowski’s philosophy, by exploring the sociological, ethical, and agitational context.
