Abstract

The main issue of this article is trying to disscus the crucial motives of Pascal’s thought (problems such as radical scepticism revealing itself as existential despair, metaphysical dread and solitude, existential contigency and finitude, the themes of boredom and imagination, the hiddeness of God) by suggesting their contextualization. In human conditio depicted by Pascal a metaphysical and religious optics constantly intrudes impulses that reveals the depedency of this thought from the nasceding of modern world. I have focused on this issues in Pascal’s thought to reveal Pascal as on of the first modern thinkers in whom the modern understanding of man’s subjectivity is forming.
