Abstract

The aim of this article is to show that philosophy (ethics, neuroethics, metaethics) can aspire to and draw inspiration from the findings of neuroscience and the neuropsychology of feeling guilt and the shame. In this article I present an open list of questions and issues which can engage a philosopher and through which they can inspire others. I present data on the neural correlates of feeling guilt and shame and some of their related neuropsychological inspirations. Special attention is paid to issues related to moral evaluation and moral sanction.
