The aim of the author of this paper is a comparative analysis of two prominent phenomena, currently occurring in Europe – cultural identity and its opposite, i.e. European integration. The matters that depict these phenomena provide a basis for the analysis. The main question of the research section is national language, as one of the most prominent elements of a given culture. This section is concerned with the use of national language in the international competition, i.e. the Eurovision Song Contest. As a result of the conducted analysis, one can observe a division in Europe, where the use of national language dominates in the southern countries of the continent.
