Abstract

The Internet is widely used in private and public life. In the public sphere, it influences the development of democracy, including changes in political communication. This article aims to show the impact of the Internet (and, more broadly, ICT) in communication by politics and public authorities. The focus was on the following use of ICT in political communication: the role of the Internet in election campaigns, public communication in the relationship of authority/office – citizens, including e-participation, understood as the participation of citizens in governing/making decisions, and the importance of social media. The literature was reviewed and the results of the latest research were presented.
