Female Social Movements in Poland and the New Media Based on Dziewuchy Dziewuchom Group on Facebook

Abstract

The aim of the author of the article is to characterize the Dziewuchy Dziewuchom (Girls for Girls) group on Facebook considering social events in Poland in 2016. The article is focused on abortion laws in recent decades in Poland and about the origins of the group, which was the effect of attempts to change abortion laws. Furthermore, there is an analysis of the social media role in forming pro-social attitudes and in affecting non-virtual reality. The article also contains details of creating the group using social media as a communication tool. Moreover, the structure of the group is described, as well as its characteristics, the most frequently discussed issues and the verbal and non-verbal symbols of Dziewuchy Dziewuchom’s activities.
