Abstract

In the text, I showed how one of the most important Vilnius newspapers of the interwar period - "Słowo" - showed an extremely important festival for the identity of Vilnius and the Vilnius Land, fair dedicated to Saint Casimir. The article presents how the report on the fair has changed over time, how the patron was described, who discussed this topic, and I also cite anecdotes related to the festival itself. The motivation for preparing the text was the fortieth anniversary of the Kaziuki fair celebrated in Warmia and Mazury, a region where so many inhabitants of the pre-war Vilnius region settled after World War II. They cultivate this tradition to this day, and Vilnius culture also plays an important role in the contemporary life of the voivodeship.
