Abstract

In the 1970s and 1980s, less than 0.5% of the population of Elbląg Voivodeship belonged to minority churches and minority religious organizations. The leaders of non-Catholic religious communities did not object to ongoing monitoring of their activities by state authorities. The priests of minority religious communities maintained regular contact with the state administration for religious affairs. Minority religious organizations in Elbląg Voivodeship received financial assistance from the state, but they did not play a major role in the government’s efforts to undermine the influence of the Catholic Church.
