Abstract

A journey to Algeria in 1889 was one of the first expeditions undertaken by Jan Dybowski in Africa. He returned to Algeria a year later. Both journeys were highly praised for their scientific merit by French researchers. Dybowski described his Algerian explorations and research in several books that were published at the time. Dybowski’s scientific achievements and knowledge of agronomy earned him the reputation of an outstanding expert in tropical agriculture.
