I think Ch. Taylor’s struggle against postmodemity is an apparent one. If the philosophers of postmodemity propagate to assume „a neutral attitude” toward the values, they don’t want to persuade us that freedom from every value is possible. This „neutral attitude” stands rather for tolerance, for respect of other people’s values. Such understanding of „neutrality” is a very important value for Taylor too. So one can ask: what could be the use of Taylor’s objections against Derrida, Foucalt, or Lyotard?
