Nature and Structure of Roberto Cipriani's Theory of Diffused Religion – The Peculiarity of the Context, Universalism of the Concept

Abstract

Italian sociologist Roberto Cipriani elaborated a concept of diffused religio. This theory does not have a great perception in Poland. It can be an interesting reference for the universalism of religious operation (dispersion of religion). As a religious idea and feature, religion is a kind of "settling" in different contexts: social, cultural, political, affecting views, attitudes, and beliefs. Cipriani refers mainly to the Italian social-ecclesiastical context, in which Catholicism dominates. This theory is describe and analyze in the conviction of the peculiarities of Italian sociology. The study contains indirect and direct references to Cipriani's scientific output, to personal discussions with the author and to Italian sociological literature. The article uses the analytic and synthetic method of available studies - mainly Italian-language - takes into consideration the rules of hermeneutical intersubjectivity.
