The theory of mental causation remains as a significant and interesting problem in recent philosophy of mind. Among others, Jaegwon Kim’s considerations became extremely important. In recent years, non-reductive physicalism has been gaining popularity but it must face some difficulties described by the Korean philosopher. Limited by the principle of the causal closure of the physical world and threatened by causal exclusion of the mental, the non-reductionists need to find a way out of that situation.
