Abstract

In this article I address the educational concept of the Spanish philosopher Miguel de Unamuno (1864-1936, with particular emphasis on his principles and ideas about education in his first articles and in his first novel Peace in War (which contains many of the ideas that will be the central theme of Love and pedagogy his teaching novel, or rather anti-pedagogical, par excellence). So far, till now, not have been taken in consideration these writings when analyzing its educational and pedagogical ideas, although they are of great importance when try to see how his conception of education is brewing and how it will evolve. I believe that the ideas he had about education are still valuable and worthy of consideration. His educational approach fits perfectly and defends the principles of continuing education, comprehensive and personalized od individualized that presently are in vogue. Therefore it is necessary to re-read the writings of Unamuno from an educational perspective and see what can provide us for present.
