Abstract

The author of this article aims to describe the phenomenon of nonverbal communication based on the example of sports spectacles. The research material included examples from various sports disciplines, which allowed an analysis of communication phenomena occurring in sports fields. Theoretical material was used as a starting point to describe the situation of sports events, where unusual, controversial behaviour of athletes or judges are being seen, but also shows the fair play attitude in sport. The wide spectrum between fair play and an aggressive attitude is to exhibit the diversity of communication behaviour in sport, a type of activity, in which the main role is played by victories, competition and emotions. Gestures used in sports, on the one hand, create communication at the verbal and nonverbal level, which very often deviates from communication patterns. On the other hand, they are applicable, for example, in the work of judges, for whom
gestures are the main way of communication.
