Abstract

This paper is dedicated to research on articles published in “Newsweek Polska” and “Polityka” weeklies which concerned the Nationwide Days of Protest, organised by trade unions in 2013. The goal was to verify the hypothesis that the image of the protests presented in the mentioned magazines was unambiguously critical and contained three specific types of metaphorisation: presenting given actions in the categories of armed conflict, referring to the field of medical pathologies and intending to dehumanize the individual. The conducted research revealed that despite numerous critical comments which the articles contained, the image of the protest shown in “Newsweek Polska” and “Polityka” is far from explicit. Instead of the three mentioned types of metaphorisation, only the one describing the given actions in the categories of armed conflict was present in the article.
