The focus of the research is an analysis of linguistic expressivity in utterances of young
artists. 90 written statements of people forming three equal groups (young creative writers,
young artists and the youth not undertaking any creative activity) have been analyzed.
The results show that the utterances of young creative writers contain the most indicators
of expressivity. These are: the complexity of the structures conveying expressive content,
the use of categorical terms and ones expressing negative emotions, the use of repetitions
and degree of identification within the emotional situation. In the young artists’ sentences
the following personality traits have been revealed: independence, ability to understand
emotions and ease of expressing them, experiencing negative and ambivalent emotional states,
the need for change, the need for affiliation and negative self-image.
