Abstract

The accession of Poland to the European Union enabled districts to raise funds for social-economic development and increase competitiveness. Districts can carry out investments that substantially exceed their financial opportunities that are determined by their income. The amount of the support taken by self-government units, in comparison to other beneficiaries, make the units the biggest recipients of European help. Hence, it is reasonable to recognize the conditioning of effective raising as well as effective use of European support by that group of beneficiaries. The article presents the influence of the realization of investments in rural areas. The research involved 3 districts located in Podlaskie Voivodeship, Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship and West Pomeranian Voivodeship, which have similar amount of inhabitants. The research was conducted with the use of qualitative methods, in particular the analysis and logical construction, including the identification.
