Abstract

This article presents the circumstances and the progress of the Polish mission to King Karl XII of Sweden. The diplomatic mission took place between March and May 1702 and was led by
Kalisz Voivode Feliks Aleksander Lipski with the aim of dissuading the Swedish monarch from waging a war against Poland. The relations between the two countries became complicated after King August II invaded Swedish Livonia without the consent of the Sejm (the Diet). The paper focuses on the little known figure of Feliks Aleksander Lipski who headed the diplomatic mission and his efforts to maintain peaceful relations between Poland and Sweden.
