Józef Ostrowski – son of Aleksander and Helena of Morsztyn Ostrowski, last owner of the Maluszyn domain at Pilica. After graduating from junior high school in Warsaw, heir Maluszyn studied at the Warsaw Main School and then at the Tsar’s University of Warsaw. At this university he defended his master’s degree by presenting his diploma thesis in the field of jurisprudence. He continued his studies of law in Berlin. He was also a student of agricultural faculties at the universities of Halle and Hohenheim. After returning to his home country, he began his career path, following the example of his father – Aleksander Ostrowski. He dealt with economic, social and political activities and held various roles; he was the president of the Credit and Earth Society in Kalisz (like Aleksander Ostrowski), a member of the Editorial Board of the daily paper ‘Słowo’, one of the organizers of the Real Politics Party (later its president), a member of the Russian Council of State, the president of the Polish Circle, vice president of the Union of Polish Kingdoms and Lithuanian and Russian countries, a member of the Second State Duma, and a member of the Regency Council. It is also worth emphasizing his social activity. He was a commune judge; he participated in the preparatory work for the establishment of agricultural societies, landowners, and rural self-governments. His career path was similar to his fathers.
