Abstract

The article deals with the process of identity for mation by Kris Kelvin in Solaris by Stanislaw Lem. The most important research tool for the analysis and interpretation of the novel is the concept of negativity from Hegel’s Kojèvian interpretation. The dialectic of identity of the main character of Solaris is based on the relationship with the Other, who becomes a mirror that shows the opposite positive image of the viewer. Identification is possible through negativity: loss, lack, imperfection, etc. The aim of the article is to answer the questions: What differentiates us from “neutrinsic visitors”? How do you find the identity? and how does the process of thinking about identity work?
