Deleuze and Markov's Chains

Krzysztof Kościuszko

Abstract

In the article I present the evolution of Deleuze’s ideas concerning the chaos. Is the conception of Markov’s chains more suitable for the expression of the essence of accidental events than the notion of the hazardous game? Is Deleuze’s reference to Ruyer justified? I’m pointing at the divergence between Deleuze’s interpretation of accidental events and that of Ruyer. Is the coordination of the theleology with indeterminism possible? Why did Deleuze accept the Markov’s chains? I compare Markov’s chaos to the deterministic chaos and Whitehead’s emergentism.
