Ryszard Rosa

Abstract

In the article evolution of European philosophical thoughts is induced – from philosophy and anthropocentrical ethics across philosophy and biocentrical ethics to ecophilosophy and ecological universalistic ethics.

In European tradition cultural ideas showing community dependence all of living creatures and their relationship with the inanimate elements in nature are seen already in the Antiquities (Hezjod, the Cynics, the Cyrenoics etc.) then in the Middle Ages (Francis from Assisi, St. Thomas of Akwin, Stanislaus of Skarbimierz) and modern times (J. Bodin, M. Montaigne, J. J. Rousseau, J. G. Herder, etc).

The idea of harmonizing values of the world of nature with the values of human civilization and cultures is especially visible in philosophy ant ethics of XXth century, in which formulated already by the ancient Greeks, postulate of internal harmony of the universe is transformed in ecophilosophy and ecoethics proclaiming the rule of worship for all forms of life.
