Abstract

The article discusses Tischner’s idea of God, which constitutes an alternative to the speculative concepts o f metaphysic o f being as being. The focus is shifted onto the category of God’s power in order to show how the Highest Good becomes a rescue for the man o f the 20th century who is affected by the totalitarian evil. Understood in such a way, the ‘omni-potence’ is juxtaposed with the freedom o f man that is given to people by God and that is not limiting. The confluence of the Good and Freedom is of key importance in the attempts to understand the power of God, which enters the history o f humankind and the experience o f each human being.
