The Role of Musical Archetypes during Hellenistic Epoch

Abstract

The article presents briefly synthesis the principles of shaping up two basic forms of literary and musical expression in the ancient world, Greek and Hellenistic civilizations. Author shortly discusses ways of manifestation of music which is viewed as an important element of the cultural circuit in contemporary reality. Archetypal patterns of the anthem and songs of praise (paian) - the basic forms of literary and musical culture of ancient Greece - were discussed in terms of synthesis and characteristics, supported by specific examples of literature. Syncretism literary and musical forms identified here in terms of the synthetic characteristic of the ancient Mediterranean culture were linked with elements of religious worship (especially mysteries). The religious dimension was an important complement to the practical treatment of music of ancient civilizations in the world, sometimes the movement of the foreground. Particularly that was evident in the case described in the final part of early Christian art hymnography, based synthesis of traditions of the Hellenistic-Roman and Judeo-Christian.
