Abstract

The aim of the article is to identify sociological contexts in Grzegorz Jarzyna’s film Między nami dobrze jest [It Is OK Between Us] based on Dorota Maslowska’s play. The author examines the subject of memory, identities referring to the text of drama, film and reflection of sociologists interested in the problem of political transformation. Maslowska, in a grotesque way, showed the social transformations after 1989, exaggerated consumerism, complexes and identity problems of Poles and the fascination with the West. Society also began to suffer from amnesia, displacing recent history and degrading symbols. Jarzyna enhanced the meaning of play in many ways, for example by significantly changing its end. Thanks to that, we have one of the most accurate although bitter diagnoses of Polish society. The author of the article has interpreted the most important themes raised by the director.
