Attracting the Readers’ Eye by Press Photography: Information and Opinion Conveying Genres

Abstract

The aim of this article is to determine how press photography attracts the attention of consumers. The study involved photographic genres, information – conveying genres, opinion – conveying genres. The author proves that photojournalism is not only a form of documenting reality and expression of the worldview of its author or editorial office. It is also a magnet for attracting the readers’ eye. The article shows that editorial offices use variety of visual influences on readers in order to focus audience attention.
