Abstract

The subject of this article is an analysis of public discourse in Poland based on press reports regarding events in Ełk at the turn of 2016 and 2017. In the city, there
was an incident near a kebab bar in which a young man died. The incident resulted in street riots in the first days of 2017. In the text, the authors present a typology of opinion-making messages and the media image of Daniel Rudnicki. The research was based on a qualitative analysis of the content, which included selected 40 newspaper articles (mainly from opinion weeklies) published in January 2017.
