Abstract

The journal “Borussia. Culture. Literature. History”, which has been published since 1991, is a magazine devoted to the culture, history and literature of Warmia and Mazury, although according to the principle of “open regionalism”, it is not only limited to regional themes. Its editorial staff and colleagues, in the years 1991–2004, presented the history of the former East Prussia, Warmia and Mazury in terms of subjects previously unspoken in the PRL period. They built the identity of the inhabitants of Warmia and Mazury, preserving the memory of the Prussian and German past, while emphasizing the building of Polish-German dialogue. To this end, German historiography was also presented, juxtaposing it with Polish, searching for common content. It consisted in overcoming barriers dividing different nationalities by building intellectual bridges, getting to know each other and exchanging historical experiences.
