The role of public administration in ensuring food safety – selected legal aspects
Abstract
Food safety is a priority of contemporary public health and economic policy, with a direct impact on public health, economic stability, and confidence in state institutions and the food market. In this context, the role of public administration bodies is invaluable. The aim of this article is to try to answer the question of what are the tasks and responsibilities of governmental institutions in the context of ensuring food safety, covering monitoring and control of food products, implementation and enforcement of regulations, and response to food hazards. The importance of international cooperation in creating global food safety standards and the impact of public education in raising consumer awareness are also presented. Effective public administration actions in the field of food safety not only protect public health but also strengthen citizens' trust in the food market and state institutions. The paper emphasizes the need for continuous improvement of surveillance and regulatory systems in response to dynamically changing challenges in the area of food safety. Due to the overview nature of the paper, a descriptive method was used as well as a critical analysis of regulations, reports containing scientific research results, monographs, and scientific articles.
