Abstract

The Word of modern finance is a growing challenge for society. Catholic social science recognizes numerous problems in this area, hence the emerging diagnoses warning against the effects of abandoning ethical requirements in economics. Particularly valuable in this area is the Vatican document Oeconomicae et pecuniariae questiones issued by the Congregation for Doctrine of the Faith and the Department for Integral Human Development on 17/05/2018. Among the serious problems affecting the 21^st century’s finances listed there were: the process of financial detachment from the real economy, immoral financial and tax practices, and the risks associated with the growing globalization process. Each of these issues requires increased socio-political attention in the light of the principles of proper anthropology. The latter must value human dignity and the value of truth rooted in love, higher than the prospects of expected financial gains.
