Abstract

A significant problem of the modern world is the extremely unequal distribution of goods. This situation is exacerbated by the phenomenon of overconsumption. It leads to the dependence of potential consumers and the strengthening of the economic power of corporations. These serious shortcomings of the present economy may be remedied by a change in the approach to man, both as an animator and a beneficiary of economic changes. One of those who draw attention to the anthropological error underlying modern economics is Fr. professor Józef Majka. The personalistic vision of economic ethics he presents appears to be an antidote to the ills of the modern era of overconsumption. The aim of this article is to present the foundations of this ethics in the form of the principles underlying it, with their relation to the problem of contemporary overconsumption.
