Klaudiusz Józef Huguenin was one of several French priests who were appointed as canons in the Warmian Cathedral Chapter in Frombork in the 17th and 18th centuries. In 1721, Huguenin became the cathedral’s vicar, and in 1725 he was appointed as coadjutor to the bishop of the Warmian diocese, Maciej Aleksander Sołtyk. After Sołtyk’s death, Huguenin became a canon regular in 1749. Huguenin also served as the parish priest in Długobór in the Pieniężno bailiwick (1738-1759). On account of his age and poor health, in 1754, Huguenin appointed Ludwik Lodron, also a Frenchman, as his coadjutor in the Warmian Chapter. In 1764, Huguenin left for France to deal with his family’s financial affairs. He died at the beginning of the following year and was buried in France. Before leaving for France, Huguenin had written his last will and testament in Frombork. The will was executed, and the chapter paid 700 florins to the late canon’s protégé, Piotr Dezyderiusz Arnoulx Huguenin.
