Abstract

This polemical article is a response to a review by Marcin Starzynski regarding the book by Zbigniew Domzal and Andrzej Walkowski, titled The Name of the Rose differently...In the mysterious world of writers and manuscripts of the Cistercian monastery in Mogila until the early 16th century. Polemic with Marcin Starzynski covers those of his accusations that were considered wrong. They were combined into five groups. The first one concerns the misunderstanding of the text, the second is the misrepresentation of the views expressed in the reviewed book. The third group, on the other hand, is the accusations that „go beyond” the subject of work reviewed by Marcin Starzynski. The fourth group includes errors consisting in incomprehension of its problems. The fifth group is based on the incorrect use of the source basis, when Marcin Starzynski refers to contents that are absent from sources quoted by him. These categories of errors are closely related.
