This article documents the life and work of Vasyl Andriyovych Stradomsky, one of the most prominent members of the Stradomsky family who was a highly reputed military doctor in Mykolayiv, a collector and a public figure. The author discloses relatively unknown facts relating to Stradomsky's life, including information about his parents, education, service and involvement in social work. Stradomsky's work as a military doctor, his service during the war and decorations are reviewed extensively. The article reviews the journals kept by Stradomsky during his years in the Navy and medical records in which Stradomsky meticulously described his cases. The paper also contains interesting information about Vasyl Stradomsky’s family and hobbies, in particular his fascination with history, archaeology and collecting.
