7. Authors will receive a pdf file with the edited version of their manuscript for final proofreading, which is the last opportunity to view the article before its publication. No changes or modifications can be introduced after publication. Thus authors are requested to carefully check their manuscript, and describe all changes that should be introduced, within 2 weeks.

8. Alternative text, also known as the "alt attribute" or simply alt (ALT), is a verbal description of what is contained in a graphic or photo posted on the Internet.

Rules for creating good alternative descriptions:

  • When creating alt text, you should be specific and concise – the optimal length is usually 5 to 15 words.
  • Avoid phrases like "the photo shows..." – they are unnecessary, as screen readers already inform the user that they are dealing with a graphic.
  • Instead of passively describing an image, it's better to use the active voice and verbs that will bring the message to life, e.g., "A child is holding a colorful balloon" instead of "The balloon is being held by a child".
  • Too many adjectives can blur the meaning of the description, so it's best to limit them in favor of precise verbs and nouns.
  • The most important thing is that the description relates to the context of the page – the same graphic in a store will have a different meaning than in a blog guide.
  •  Don't forget about information hierarchy – alt text should describe what's most important in the image from the user's perspective and the purpose of the content.
