Abstract

The aim of the article is to show the consequences of narrowing down the Western epistemological paradigm to scientific knowledge and depreciating its other forms. The article shows the premises for building an alternative paradigm not only of cognitive, but also social and practical importance; paradigm in relation to the diversity of the world and the pluralism of knowledge concerning it. Epistemic diversity proves particularly urgent in the context of global challenges, intertwined social and environmental problems that cannot be solved through narrow disciplinary perspectives.
