Abstract

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the atheistic character of Andrzej Nowicki’s axiology. By conceptual analysis, Nowicki’s notion of atheism was reconstructed and the most important values in his philosophy was discussed, with particular regard to their atheistic context. Atheism is for Nowicki a consequent rationalism in which everything can be investigated or questioned. The main function of religion is to sacralize phenomena and to exclude them from the field of considerations. The most important values for Nowicki are culture, immorality of name, posterity, fruitfulness of works and newness. These values are atheistic equivalents to religious concepts and they allow to build secular culture, which give meaning of life and allow for human to develop and to be creator of himself.
